Michele Madeksza is an oil painter whose works radiate with color and can be described as impressionistic realism.
“I look at the set-up or scene that I am painting and then reduce it down to pieces of color. The first layer of paint that I brush or pallet knife onto my canvas is straightforward; I paint the colors I see. The layers of paint that follow correct, add, and adjust the colors to provide an interesting contrast and drama of light against dark, warm against cool.“
Her paintings explore a wide range of subjects including still lives, people, buildings, nature/flowers and scenes from daily life. They have been described as lively, fluid, and strong.
Madeksza earned her under graduate degree from the University of Richmond and her graduate degree from The George Washington University. Since moving to Delaware in 1998, she has studied with Edward Loper, Sr., Jon Redmond, John Sevcik and at the Barnes Foundation, in Marion, PA. She sits on the Board of Trustees for the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts and Kentmere Nursing Center.
Michele lives in Wilmington, Delaware with her husband and daughter. |
